In 2011 he started his PhD thesis at CREAF-UAB under the supervision of Prof. Josep Peñuelas (CREAF-CSIC) and Dr. Sara Vicca (Universiteit Antwerpen, Belgium), investigating the effects of climate, nutrient availability and anthropogenic impacts on spatial and temporal variability of terrestrial productivity. He then took up a postdoctoral research position at CREAF for a year and a half, after which he won two fellowships (BOF, FWO) at the Universiteit Antwerpen (Belgium) under the supervision of Prof. Ivan Janssens. Simultaneously he was junior coordinator of the Imbalance-P project (ERC-Synergy grant). At the end of 2021 he rejoined CREAF with a Junior Leader fellowship from the La Caixa Foundation, to investigate how the elemental composition of organisms determine ecosystem functioning and their own.
