Paula Bruna Pérez
I am a Ramón y Cajal Research Fellow at CREAF. I hold a PhD in Fine Arts from the University of Barcelona and a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Environmental Sciences from the Autonomous University of Barcelona. After a long career in environmental management, I shifted my focus towards artistic research in ecology.
As an artistic researcher, I address ecological questions from ecocentric perspectives through a combination of scientific foundations, speculative fiction and artistic practices. My main hypothesis is that exploring perspectives beyond dominant anthropocentrism generates knowledge, contributes to ecological awareness and broadens the range of possible forms of coexistence.
I have developed artistic research projects such as The Plantocene, Ecofictions, The other residents, La Forêt Noire, Embolismo por soleá and Jaleo forestal. The results of my research have been presented at conferences and through publications, workshops and art exhibitions at national and international institutions. My work has received support from various research and artistic creation grants and programmes, including the BBVA Foundation Leonardo Grant.
