Alba Alemany
I have a Bachelor's degree in Biology from the University of Barcelona (2020) and a Master’s in Sustainability Science and Policy from Maastricht University (2021).
I am currently pursuing my PhD at CREAF-The University of Barcelona, under the supervision of Joan Pino, Marcos Fernandez and Estela Romero. I am researching the ecology and biodiversity of Mediterranean spring ecosystems. I aim to understand the spatial and temporal dynamics of biodiversity (diatom and bryophyte communities) in Mediterranean spring ecosystems and their association with the main global change drivers.
My previous experience includes lake ecology projects in the Lake District (UK), nature-based solutions and coastal restoration initiatives in the Ebro Delta (Spain), and macrophyte monitoring in the chalk streams of southern England.
I love exploring nature and I spend most of my free time outdoors, mostly hiking, swimming, snorkeling, paddle boarding, or taking photos of the natural world.
