This is the privacy policy applicable to the Ecological and Forestry Applications Research Centre (CREAF) Consortium's processing of personal data. It is part of the conditions established in our legal notice.

CREAF is a non-profit public consortium comprising the Government of Catalonia, the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and the University of Barcelona (UB). Its mission is to contribute to knowledge about environmental and land conservation and management, as well as to local, regional and global adaptation to environmental change, connecting academia, the public authorities and society, and acting as an opinion leader in its areas of activity.

OUR PRINCIPLES  

CREAF applies the principles established in article of the European General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation EU 2016/679 of 27 April 2016). More specifically:   

  • We only process your personal data when it is legally permissible to do so, either on the basis of your consent, which we will always ask for clearly and transparently, or if necessary for the performance of a contract to which you are party.  

  • We only process data we require for our specified purposes (see below), and do not use it in any other way.  

  • Our Privacy Office is at your disposal to ensure that your data is up to date.  

  • We only keep data for such time as we need it for our specified purposes (see below).  

  • We take security measures, including encryption, to guarantee the integrity and confidentiality of your personal data and protect it against loss, destruction or damage.  

PURPOSES FOR WHICH WE PROCESS YOUR PERSONAL DATA  

CREAF collects and processes your personal data, subject to your consent, for the following purposes:  

  1. To send you information about our activity and services, mainly through our newsletter and informative messages.   

  2. To respond to requests for access to our public information.  

  3. To conduct first-rate, innovative basic research that can be regarded as a model both nationally and internationally.  

  1. To promote applied research, especially in the forestry area, that contributes to the sustainable conservation and management of resources and ecosystems.  

  2. To develop conceptual and methodological tools to aid decision-making and improve environmental management.  

  3. To disseminate the scientific and technological knowledge we generate through training, advisory and informative activities. 

LEGAL GROUNDS FOR PROCESSING YOUR PERSONAL DATA 

We may process your personal data if:   

  • We need to do so to fulfil our obligations under contracts and agreements.  

  • We have your express consent to do so.  

  • We are legally obliged to do so.  

  • We need to do so to perform a task in the public interest or to exercise any official authority vested in us as a public consortium. 

You are under no obligation to supply us with your personal databut choosing not to do so will prevent us from providing you with services corresponding to our specified purposes (see above).  

WHAT PERSONAL DATA WE PROCESS  

The data we collect via newsletter forms consists of minimum contact details, such as your name, email address, telephone number and institutionto enable us to send you newsletters and messages and keep you informed about our activity.  

We may also collect your personal data if you request our services or contribute to our work via forms or email, subject to your consent, or if you sign a contract with usWe always ensure that we process only the minimum data we require and retain it for no longer than is strictly necessary to manage our relationship or provide you with services and keep in touch with you with an eye to future collaboration.  

WHO WE SHARE PERSONAL DATA WITH  

We only share your personal data with our suppliers, and only to the extent necessary to guarantee and provide our services, develop knowledge transfer tools and ensure that information about our activity reaches everyone interested in receiving it.  

CHILDREN'S DATA  

People under the age of 16 may only use our portals with the permission of a parent or guardian, who will be deemed responsible for them.  

YOUR RIGHTS AND HOW TO EXERCISE THEM  

You may exercise your rights in relation to your personal data and privacy at any time, without charge, in accordance with the applicable legislation. Such rights include:   

1. Finding out which elements of (your) personal data CREAF is processing, for what purposes it is doing so, and with which third parties it is sharing such information. 

2. Obtaining a copy of the data in question (an administration fee may be payable as of the second copy). 

3. Requesting that inaccurate or incomplete personal data be corrected or completed respectively. 

4. Requesting that your personal data be erased when it is no longer necessary for the purpose(s) for which it was collected. 

5. Requesting that the processing of your personal data be restricted while potential inaccuracies are being verified and in other cases envisaged in the applicable legislation. 

6. Requesting that your personal data be transferred tanother organization in a structured, commonly used format (right to data portability). 

7. Objecting to us processing your personal data.
