CREAFTalk - Álvaro Sampieri Croda: Hybrid nanocomposites for controlled release of herbicides
Alvaro Sampieri Croda, from the Benemérita Universidad de Puebla, Mexico, will address a CREAFTalk about ' Hybrid Nanocomposites for Controlled Release of Herbicides'.
Herbicides are widely used in crops, raising serious concerns about soil and water contamination. Recent advances in controlled-release technologies, particularly those based on nanoporous composite materials and biopolymers, offer promising alternatives for targeted delivery and reduced herbicide leaching. While several reviews have emphasized the growing role of nanotechnology in agriculture, this presentation focuses on our research into emerging trends in hybrid nanocomposites as controlled-release systems for the herbicide atrazine. We highlight their potential to mitigate environmental risks and promote more sustainable agricultural practices.
Dr Sampieri Croda a professor at the Faculty of Chemical Engineering at BUAP, specializing in porous nanostructured materials for environmental remediation, with a focus on the removal of air pollutants and the controlled release of agrochemicals. His academic path includes a Ph.D. from Sorbonne Université (University of Pierre and Marie Curie, Paris) and research positions at institutions such as UNAM, the Colegio de Postgraduados, and University College London. He is firmly committed to the training of high-level human resources through teaching and doctoral supervision.
