CREAFTalk with Antoine Cabon - Tree growth physiology to elucidate forest-atmosphere feedbacks
On a global scale, atmospheric changes are simulated to enhance the forest carbon sink, constituting a critical stabilizing feedback to climate change. Large uncertainties nevertheless remain regarding the underlying physiological processes, with the link between photosynthesis and biomass production being notably unclear. In this talk, Antoine will discuss current evidence and theories on the physiological drivers of tree growth, and how advancing our understanding of tree growth physiology can help reduce uncertainties on the forest carbon cycle.
Who is Antoine Cabon?
Antoine is a Ramón y Cajal fellow at the Estación Experimental del Zaidín (CSIC), Granada. His research interest lies at interface between plant ecophysiology, forest ecology and the global carbon cycle. Currently, his investigation aims to scaling cellular processes involved in tree growth to better understand and simulate forests’ response to climate change.
