Actions to promote the maturity and naturalness of the forests of the PNIN de Poblet
The project consists of drafting the executive project to carry out forestry actions in the forests of public utility in the Poblet Natural Reserve of National Interest. The actions will consist of, on the one hand, proposing measures for the promotion of mature forests, with the improvement of the biodiversity of the selected stands and, on the other hand, proposing measures for the promotion, conservation and expansion of open spaces within the scope of the Poblet PNIN through the consolidation of spaces and the recovery and/or promotion of firebreaks and meadows. The project is a mandate from the General Directorate of Environmental Policies and the Natural Environment within the CREAF Program Contract.
The work proposal consists of drafting the executive project to carry out forestry actions in the forests of public utility in the Poblet Natural Area of National Interest (PNIN Poblet).
The project has two distinct parts:
- Propose measures to promote mature forests, with the improvement of the biodiversity of the selected stands
- Propose measures to promote, conserve and expand open spaces.
The objectives of the project are:
- Improve the quality and resilience of the forests of the PNIN Poblet by promoting their dynamics towards old-growthness stages.
- Increase and preserve the biodiversity associated with maturity in the selected stands.
- Conserve and expand open spaces to promote biodiversity and ecological connectivity.
- Promote the resilience of forests to the impacts of climate change and forest fires.
- Promote sustainable forest management, based on close-to-nature silviculture, which improves the conditions of mature forests and allows their natural dynamic.
In the drafting of the executive project, the actions will be well defined in accordance with the objectives of the project, as well as their justification, the associated cartography and the budget associated with the actions.
