Jordi Galiano Landeira

Postdoctoral researcher on the project to associate life and the brain through the variables information, mass and energy.

My name is Jordi Galiano Landeira and I am from Costa Brava, Catalonia. I am a multidisciplinary researcher with a background in biology, neuroscience and philosophy. As a neurophilosopher and biologist, I am particularly interested in understanding how life and consciousness emerge and how these two phenomena are fundamentally related. To address these questions, my research is mainly based on theoretical and conceptual analyses, in which I contrast, integrate and, finally, propose new explanatory frameworks.

More recently, I have been working on implementing computational approaches grounded in thermodynamics and information theory, with the aim of exploring and formally testing hypotheses derived from these frameworks. During my stay in the Global Ecology Unit group, I will study how the biological laws governing information, matter and energy apply to the brain. Beyond research, I have a great passion for teaching and enjoy reading in general, especially philosophy, as well as crime and science fiction. I also spend a lot of time at the gym and enjoy hiking and traveling from time to time.
