Graduate in Biology from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and Master's degree in Global Change Ecology from the University of Bayreuth. After working for an environmental consultancy, I…

I'm Mathias Brummer. While I did my bachelor's degree at the UAB, for the master's degree in global change ecology I was at the University of Bayreuth. Little by little I consolidated my interest in socio-ecology and science-policy. After working at the Cooperative Water, Environment and Business for Development, where I did participatory processes in circular economy projects, I had the opportunity to join the Xarxa per a la Conservació de la Natura (XCN)

In the XCN I have coordinated LIFE, POCTEFA and Fundación Biodiversidad projects, always focused on forest governance and land stewardship. I have also been the organisation's representative in international forums (EUROSITE and ILCN).

At CREAF I will be part of the BIOCONS group. Among many other things, my main function will be to establish the protocols and procedures for the transfer of scientific results to public policies (science-policy interface) through the Observatori de Patrimoni Natural. I will also work on this science-policy interface at other governance scales.

To make a long story short, I am quite hyperactive when it comes to sports, be it hiking, running, cycling, climbing or diving. Perhaps, we can also cross paths in the SAF during the week. Although I don't find the time lately, I like to go out to look for birds or what ever might catch my eye.
