Marcello Dante Cerrato
I studied Biology and completed my PhD at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB), where I investigated the effects of salt stress on reproductive and physiological traits of species from dune systems in the Balearic Islands. As a botanist, I am particularly interested in the reproductive biology of endemic and vulnerable species, especially those associated with coastal systems, as well as seed germination ecology, vascular plant chorology, and the study of non-native flora.
I am currently joining CREAF as a technician on the CREPIS project, led by Maria Mayol Martínez, where we will study the Balearic endemic species Crepis triasii. The project combines genomic, functional, and environmental data to identify traits and genes involved in adaptation, detect populations that may be vulnerable to future environmental changes, and inform potential conservation strategies. I look forward to having the opportunity to meet you all throughout this new stage at CREAF.
