Laila Vivas Glaser

I hold a PhD from the University of the Basque Country and carried out my doctoral research at the Basque Centre for Climate Change (BC3), where I worked at the intersection of environmental justice, health, and political ecology. My research has focused on understanding how environmental conflicts produce social and health inequalities, exploring topics such as seed systems, environmental governance, and, more recently, tourism through an environmental justice perspective.

Alongside my research, I have always been interested in connecting science with society. I have worked on European projects, science communication, and science-for-policy initiatives, collaborating with public administrations, universities, and media outlets. I am particularly motivated by promoting environmental awareness and critical reflection, as well as helping scientific knowledge inform decision-making in response to environmental challenges.

At CREAF, I have joined Dr. Alicia Pérez-Porro’s team as a Science for Policy Officer, contributing to the ASPIES and MECEMB-MCAP projects. In this role, I will work to strengthen the connection between scientific knowledge and biodiversity policy, with a particular focus on the IPBES process and on improving science-for-policy practices. I am really excited to start this new chapter and look forward to meeting everyone.
