Judit Rodrigo Navarro
I am an environmental biologist pursuing a PhD on the paleoecological reconstruction of island vegetation based on sedimentary records.
I hold a degree in Environmental Biology from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) and a Master's degree in Ecology, Management and Restoration of the Environment from the Universitat de Barcelona (UB).
I began my research career in aquatic ecology, undertaking research placements in Ontario (Canada) and Lund (Sweden), where I studied the effects of lake salinization on biodiversity. Two years ago, I discovered paleoecology and have since focused my research on the study of past ecosystems. I am currently a PhD candidate supervised by Dr Sandra Nogué and Dr Sergi Pla.
My research aims to understand how historical vegetation dynamics can help us better interpret present-day ecosystems. To do so, I reconstruct plant communities from island ecosystems using sedimentary records, with a particular focus on the vegetation of the Seychelles Islands.
