My name is Clàudia Pla-Narbona and I am from La Floresta (Sant Cugat del Vallès). I studied Environmental Biology and later completed a Master’s degree in Terrestrial Ecology and Biodiversity Management at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. After my Master’s thesis, I specialized in butterflies: for almost five years I worked at the Granollers Museum of Natural Sciences with the BiBio research group, as a technician in the Catalan Butterfly Monitoring Scheme (CBMS), and later also coordinating the Butterfly Gardens project. At the same time, I worked as an associate lecturer for a year and a half in the Zoology Department (UAB).

I am interested in the study of pollinators because of their essential role in sustaining biodiversity and the food sovereignty, as well as in pollinator–plant interactions. Five months ago, I decided to broaden my horizons and I worked at an environmental consultancy developing green infrastructure and forest management projects. Now I have the opportunity to join the pollinators group at CREAF in order to expand my knowledge to other pollinators beyond butterflies, such as bees and hoverflies. At CREAF, I will mainly work on the CATAPoMS project with Jordi Bosch and Anselm Rodrigo’s team, where we will carry out a pollinator monitoring scheme in different locations across the territory within the PIPOL project.

I enjoy spending time in nature and observing wildlife, as well as running, swimming, hiking, and practicing alpinism and circus arts. I have a music group (two years ago I had two), where we play and teach traditional dances, and I am involved in the events that take place in my village.
