Anna Marín Puig

ClimaGov Project Coordinator, focusing on local adaptive capacity and environmental governance for climate change adaptation.

I am a geographer by training, and my research interests focus on exploring place-based capacities for adaptive and transformative change from various perspectives. Currently, within the framework of the ClimaGov project, I work on the relationship between improved environmental governance and local adaptive capacity.

More specifically, the project aims to strengthen and consolidate existing governance spaces that connect actors, projects, ideas, and resources, fostering new forms of collaboration grounded in local contexts. This supports greater decentralisation and territorial autonomy, enabling the changes needed to reduce vulnerability to climate change.

One of the main research lines is the development of an analytical framework that makes it possible to identify and compare how the adaptive capacity of territories evolves. Unlike indicators focused on reducing climate impacts, this is a complementary and more transversal approach, centred on gains in local response capacity.

Ultimately, the research seeks to generate applied knowledge that informs and strengthens climate change adaptation policies, including frameworks such as the ESCACC.
