The Forest Academy is a training initiative led by CREAF, aimed at forest owners and public administration officials. Its goal is to prepare them to implement science-based forest management that improves the health of our forests, thereby protecting our future.
For years, the Academia del Cine has been working to reduce the carbon footprint of the Goya Awards ceremony. Now, instead of funding new tree-planting projects, it is spearheading the creation of the "Forest Academy" (*Academia del Bosque*), a training program led by CREAF and aimed at forest owners and public administration officials.
A key focus of the training will be the use of a new drought vulnerability index developed by the RedBosquesClima project. The program will combine theoretical sessions with field trips to demonstrate practical applications, discuss real-world feasibility, and tailor solutions to the specific needs of forest managers.
The initiative will launch with a pilot program in Catalonia, comprising up to three courses designed for complementary target audiences.
The success of this pilot project will allow for an assessment of the potential to expand the model nationwide. The collaboration between the Film Academy and CREAF aims to act as a catalyst, encouraging other organizations to replace or supplement tree-planting efforts with initiatives that promote active forest management.
