Dr. Laia Pellejà, the new director of the Institution of Research Centres of Catalonia (CERCA), visited CREAF as part of her institutional tour of Catalan research centers. During the visit, Pellejà met with the CREAF management team, who presented their most important projects and recent achievements in research management.

Pellejà was pleasantly surprised by CREAF's great deployment in scientific management and, especially, by its renewal of the Severo Ochoa seal of excellence, a recognition that endorses the quality and international impact of the centre. This success reaffirms CREAF's role as a benchmark in biodiversity and global change research, capable of transforming scientific knowledge into applied policies.

The visit forms part of Pellejà's commitment to gain first-hand knowledge of the reality of the CERCA centres, which she has supported since taking up her post as director in March of this year. With a PhD in nanoscience and nanotechnology and a long career in research management, Pellejà stressed the importance of continuing to promote scientific cooperation and knowledge transfer within the CERCA network.

CREAF, which forms part of this network, has been recognised in recent years for its capacity for innovation and for promoting cross-cutting projects that address major global environmental challenges.
