CREAF is a public center for research in terrestrial ecology, global change and the analysis of the territory, that pursues excellence in knowledge generation and transfer, methodology development, innovation, training and dissemination. Our center has more than 160 scientific, technical and administrative staff from different countries, working together for the progress of an environmental research of excellence.

CREAF is seeking for two field technicians, to work for SISEBIO project (“Monitoring System Plots of Terrestrial Biodiversity”) with ref. 90004 and financed by Departament de Territori i Sostenibilitat and LIFE project BIORGEST (“Innovative Forest Management Strategies to Enhance Biodiversity in Mediterranean Forests. Incentives & Management Tools”), financed by European Commission. The contracts are full time for 6 months, from mid-April to October 2022, and the salary range offered is between 1739,90 and 1.975,02€ gross per month depending on candidates’ skills.
El CREAF precisa incorporar un tècnic o una tècnica de comunicació, per donar suport al Departament de Comunicació del CREAF del futur Observatori del Patrimoni Natural i la Conservació, amb ref. 90014 i finançat pel Departament d'Acció Climàtica, Alimentació i Agenda Rural i en altres encàrrecs relacionats amb la comunicació de l’estat de la biodiversitat a Catalunya. Aquesta persona entrarà a formar part de l’equip de Comunicació del CREAF i treballarà en coordinació amb tots els centres de recerca i institucions que conformaran aquest futur Observatori. L’Observatori del Patrimoni Natural i la Biodiversitat serà l’ens de referència responsable de millorar com s’organitza, s’integra, tracta i difon la informació sobre el patrimoni natural de Catalunya. El seu objectiu és impulsar iniciatives de millora del coneixement i d’avaluació de l’estat del patrimoni natural, identificar, recopilar, processar i integrar la informació existent sobre l’estat de la biodiversitat i transferir la informació recopilada cap als i les agents que gestionen el medi natural i cap a la societat en general. S’ofereix un contracte a jornada completa (37’5 h/setmanals), amb previsió d’inici a principis de maig fins aproximadament un any. CREAF is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to work on the BEECOEVO project (Animal behavior: a modulator of evo-evolutionary dynamics in a changing planet?) with ref. EUR2021-122000 and financed by Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación. The candidate will join the ‘Evolutionary Ecology of Behavior in the Anthropocene’ laboratory, a research group in the Biodiversity department at CREAF led by Oriol Lapiedra. The primary goal of our research is to shed light on how organisms adapt to rapid environmental changes with a specific focus on the role of animal behavior in this process. Our research combines approaches from behavioral ecology, evolutionary ecology, and global change biology. More specifically, the ongoing research program in our lab studies the ecological and evolutionary consequences of behavior at different levels: from genes to phenotypes, populations, and entire biological communities. Ongoing research includes work on two study systems established in the Caribbean and the Balearic Islands where we are investigating the ecological and evolutionary consequences of the arrival of new predators for populations of native lizards as well as for the functioning of the ecosystems they live in. The candidate is expected to lead cross-generational genomic analysis of already collected data from a large scale experiment in which high-quality phenotypic data is available in combination with genetic data (see Lapiedra et al 2018, Predator-driven natural selection on risk-taking behavior in anole lizards, Science, for reference). He/she will also participate in fieldwork campaigns in the Balearic Islands, lead lab meetings, and co-supervise Msc students. A full-time contract is offered, in a highly stimulating environment with state-of-the-art infrastructure, flexible hours and extensive training opportunities. The salary offered is between 30.471,75€ and 33.067,55€ gross per year, depending on proven experience. The starting date will be in the summer 2022, and with an initial duration of 2 year with possibility to extend it up to 3 years.

CREAF is seeking an experienced research technician to conduct assessment work and research for the CATALAN OBSERVATORY OF BIODIVERSITY AND NATURAL HERITGE project (Mobilization of biodiversity information for decision making) with ref. 90014 and financed by Departament d’Acció Climàtica, Alimentació i Agenda Rural, and PI-PLATES project (Platform for the support to the predictive management of the territory and sustainability) with ref. 90027 and financed by Departament de Vicepresidència i Polítiques Digitals i Territori. We are seeking experienced technician researcher with strong experience in environmental assessment and biodiversity mapping to work, together with other National and European institutions on integrating threat assessment into the future biodiversity monitoring. The project aims to engage users at the regional, national and European level to identify the data needs of policies and targets aligned with the new European Green Deal. A full-time contract is offered, with a planned incorporation in April 2022 with an initial duration of one year (probably extended). The salary offered is 27.086€ gross per year.
