CREAF is seeking a research technician to work on the FORGENIUS project (Improving access to FORest GENetic resources, information and services for end-Users); with ref. 862221, funded by the European Union in the H2020 program and on a Junior Leader Incoming grant project (Predicting the global distributions of above ground water content, water potential, and biomass of the world's forests), 2023 Call for Junior Leader Postdoctoral Fellowships from the “la Caixa” Foundation and co-financed by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation program in accordance with the Marie Skłodowska-Curie program. The two projects are coordinated by Maurizio Mencuccini and Oliver Binks and operate in tandem.
The contract will be full-time (37,5H) and likely to start at the beginning of September 2023, with an envisaged duration of 6 months. The salary offered is 1.907,44€ gross per month.
TASKS:
- Review and organize the data analysis pipeline in R for the data streams coming from the Forgenius and the La Caixa projects.- Liaise with the Forgenius and La Caixa project leaders about strategic planning, and relationship with other European groups involved in relevant Forgenius or La Caixa activities.- Analyse the data of plant water relations and hydraulic traits in the R platform.- Prepare one or more publications related to the activities above.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Degree in Biology, Ecology, Forest Sciences, Environmental Sciences, or equivalent.- Knowledge of physiological ecology and genomics of tree populations.- Understanding of the significance of plasticity / phenotypic variability of tree populations at large geographic scales.- Experience in analysing phenotypic and genotypic data at continental scales.- Expertise in using advanced analytical tools (R data platform, multivariate statistics).- Knowledge of English.
ASSESSABLE CONDITIONS:
- MSc or PhD in plant biology, molecular biology, physiology or ecology.- Understanding of the biophysics of the soil-plant-atmosphere continuum.- Advanced knowledge of English.- Experience in supervising technicians and/or PhD students.- Candidates who have a recognized disability and accredited equal to or greater than 33% will be prioritized, if the disability is compatible with the proper performance of the job.
