CREAF implements and tests ISO19xxx standards and integrates them into its general metadata model, giving special attention to aspects not yet considered in the standards, being concepts specific to remote sensing, description of the relational database or multi-language support. 

CREAF hosted the implementation of a model to describe metadata for each hierarchical level (layer, group of layers, entity or even attribute). This model considers the possibility of establishing relationships between some of these hierarchical levels such that the inferior levels (such as a layer) can inherit some metadata from superior levels (such as a series), noticeably reducing the duplication of information and increasing consistency.
