The High mountain is experiencing the highest warming rates in Eu-rope during the last decades. This shifting situation adds to other changes related to athmospheric chemical deposition, land use, and species invasions. On the other hand, high mountains hold the lar-gest areas for nature conservation in many countries as they are still regarded as the wilderness within an extremely modified lowland landscape.
This year marks 60 years since the declaration of the National Park of Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici (Pyrenees). Therefore, it has become a timely opportunity to organize a workshop for analyzing the shifting conditions and discussing the conservation challenges and trade-offs that these changes may imply. There are eighteen invited speakers and discussions, and poster presentations are open to interested participants.
With the participation of Jordi Catalan (CREAF, CSIC) and Francisco Lloret (CREAF).
