CREAF is seeking for a postdoctoral researcher to work on the FUNBOSC project (design and launch a network to monitor the functioning of Catalan forests, including continuous measurements of carbon and water flows in tree stems) and funded by the Departament d'Acció Climàtica, Alimentació i Agenda Rural de la Generalitat de Catalunya.
The candidate will join a large research team of >20 people working on the effects of environmental changes on vegetation dynamics at scales that range from the individual plant to the region and the globe.
A part-time contract is offered (28h per week), with planned incorporation in June 2023, with a duration of 6 month. The salary offered is €1,972 gross per month.
- Design a functional monitoring network for Catalonia's forests based on existing experiences at international level.- Set up a monitoring station at Can Balasc to test alternative sensors and experimental designs.- Plan the products derived from the monitoring network, their dissemination, and the interaction with other forest monitoring initiatives.- Create a working group involving representatives from the scientific, technological, and administrative sectors, to support the monitoring network.
- Degree in Biology, Environmental Sciences or equivalent.- A completed PhD on forest functional ecology.- Research experience in forest water and carbon fluxes, and their monitoring, as evidenced from prior scientific publications.- Experience coordinating large databases or research infrastructures.
- Advanced experience in programming and data analysis using R or equivalent software.- Advanced knowledge of English.- International working experience.
