Emma Artigues Clark
My name is Emma Artigues Clark, and I am from Barcelona. I studied Biology and completed a master’s degree in Plant Biology, Genomics and Biotechnology from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). I have a strong interest in food security and the impact of human activities on agricultural practices. My master's research was conducted at the Centre for Research in Agricultural Genomics (CRAG), and simultaneity worked as a technical assistant on the molecular characterization of different alleles of micro RNA 156 found in the potato cultivars Musica and Andigena, focusing on their quantitative contribution to the production of mature and functional miRNA molecules.
My interests have increasingly shifted towards ecological topics, as these have a stronger focus on food security and global change, focusing more on good agricultural practices for the environment.
I am currently joining CREAF as a technical assistant on the DNESS project, working with Àngela Ribas and Stefania Mattana to help with DNA and RNA extractions. This project focuses on key soil denitrification pathways responsible for the release of nitrous oxide (N₂O), a greenhouse gas with a significant impact on climate change.
