CREAF

CREAF is seeking for a postdoctoral researcher to work on the FUNBOSC project (design and launch a network to monitor the functioning of Catalan forests, including continuous measurements of carbon and water flows in tree stems) and funded by the Departament d'Acció Climàtica, Alimentació i Agenda Rural de la Generalitat de Catalunya.

The candidate will join a large research team of >20 people working on the effects of environmental changes on vegetation dynamics at scales that range from the individual plant to the region and the globe.

A part-time contract is offered (28h per week), with planned incorporation in June 2023, with a duration of 6 month. The salary offered is €1,972 gross per month.

TASKS:

- Design a functional monitoring network for Catalonia's forests based on existing experiences at international level.
- Set up a monitoring station at Can Balasc to test alternative sensors and experimental designs.
- Plan the products derived from the monitoring network, their dissemination, and the interaction with other forest monitoring initiatives.
- Create a working group involving representatives from the scientific, technological, and administrative sectors, to support the monitoring network. 

REQUIREMENTS:

- Degree in Biology, Environmental Sciences or equivalent.
- A completed PhD on forest functional ecology.
- Research experience in forest water and carbon fluxes, and their monitoring, as evidenced from prior scientific publications.
- Experience coordinating large databases or research infrastructures.

ASSESSABLE CONDITIONS:

- Advanced experience in programming and data analysis using R or equivalent software.
- Advanced knowledge of English.
- International working experience.
