CREAF is seeking for two field technicians, to work (each one) with a sole full-time contract on the following projects (alternatively/simultaneously):
- LIFE REDCAPACITA2015 ("Red_Bosques: knowledge and training networks for the efficient management of Natura 2000 Mediterranean forest habitats in Spain", ref. LIFE15 GIE/ES/000809).
- LIFE BIORGEST (“Innovative forest management strategies to enhance biodiversity in Mediterranean forests. Incentives & management tools”, ref. LIFE17 NAT/ES/000568).
- CERES (“Connectivity of forest and riparian ecosystems of the SUDOE space”, ref. SOE2/P5/F0551), co-funded by the UE Interreg Sudoe program.
- SISEBIO (Programa Global de Seguiment de la Biodiversitat de la Generalitat de Catalunya).

This contract is likely to start in May 2019, with a duration of 3 months.


  1. Installation of large permanent plots in forest habitats (forests, scrubland and grassland).
  2. Sampling of vegetation structure using forest inventory methodologies.
  3. Support on biodiversity sampling tasks.
  4. Collection of soil samples.


  1. Degree or equivalent in Biology or Environmental Sciences.
  2. Expertise in research work on ecology and forest inventories.
  3. Experience in freshwater fauna and habitats surveys.
  4. Full experience and availability for field work.
  5. Basic knowledge of GIS and databases.
  6. Driving licence type B.


  1. Knowledge in sample soil methods.
  2. Expertise in botany, in the identification of flora and in the realization of floristic inventories.
  3. Experience in citizen science.
  4. Knowledge of Catalan.

The selection process is led by the Project Research Team, and will be overseen by the Management Office and the Human Resources Area of CREAF. This process consist of:

  1. Admission of candidates: applicants must submit a résumé, a cover letter (maximum 500 words) and the questionnaire attached to the offer (filled), by e-mail to, until 30 April, 2 PM, indicating the reference code of the offer.   2. Pre-selection: determination of compliance with the minimum requirements of the offer.
  3. Selection: assessment of the preselected candidates by scoring based on objective criteria.
  4. Final decision: in case of finding the suitable person, the election will be formally communicated to him/her, and the identification of the chosen person will be published on CREAF job openings section.
