POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCHER ON SOIL N2O, CH4 AND CO2 FLUXES IN RESPONSE TO NUTRIENT AND CLIMATE CHANGES

CREAF needs to incorporate in a short time a postdoctoral researcher profile to the project SYNERGY GRANT - IMBALANCE (ERC-2013-SyG 610028-IMBALANCE-P, funded by the European Commission). The contract is expected to start in May, 2018, and will finish at the end of the tasks required for the project. Work time will be 4 days per month.

TASKS
The selected candidate will help to the IMBALANCE team about:

  1. Gas exchange measurements in natural and manipulated ecosystems, mostly related to nutrient imbalances at both local and global scales.
  2. Field work and conduction of field experiments and analyses, and observations of litter and soil microbial communities.
  3. Monitoring of soil N2O, CH4 and CO2 fluxes in response to nutrient availability in the experiments and field sites in Garraf, Prades, Pyrenees and Montseny (Catalonia), French Guiana (France), and the other study sites of the Global Ecology Unit.
  4. Processing and analysis of data.
  5. Writing and publishing research papers in international peer-reviewed journals.

REQUIREMENTS

  1. PhD in Ecology or related field.
  2. Advanced user of statistical software (e.g. R software and SAS).
  3. Demonstrable experience of more than 5 years in the study of soil N2O, CH4 and CO2 fluxes, terrestrial community and ecosystem ecology.
  4. Capacity for teamwork.
  5. Long (more than 5 years) experience in organizing, coordinating and conducting field-based research, with a particular emphasis on soil ecosystems.
  6. Catalan and English spoken and written correctly.

ASSESSABLE CONDITIONS

  1. Previous experience in project development, data analysis and scientific writing.
  2. Demonstrable knowledge of state-of-the-art of soil N2O, CH4 and CO2 fluxes techniques in Mediterranean soils.

SELECTION PROCESS AND CRITERIA
The selection process is led by the research project team, and will be overseen by the Management Office and the Human Resources Area of CREAF. This process consists of:

  1.
