POSTDOC RESEARCHER FOR THE PROJECT DRESS

CREAF is seeking to appoint a post-doctoral researcher to work on the Project DRESS (Water use and drought resistance strategies at different scales: from homeostatic mechanisms to regional vegetation dynamics; ref. CGL2017-89149-C2-1-R, financed by the Agencia Estatal de Investigación (AEI) and the European Regional Development Fund (FEDER). This contract is likely to start at the beginning of October 2018, with a duration of 6 months.

TASKS

  1. You will coordinate the compilation of published information on the plasticity of plant hydraulic traits in response to different environmental factors, making use of a library of pre-existing references and coordinating a network of existing collaborators.
  2. You will organise the resulting database and structure it with a view to optimise data quality control and subsequent analyses.
  3. Using the data collected following the protocol outlined above, you will lead the data analysis phase and collaborate in the writing-up of the results in the form of a scientific publication.
  4. You will coordinate with the members of the group leading the Project, provide guidance to staff and students, collaborating with the team members on other ongoing projects, if and when required.

REQUIREMENTS

  1. First degree in Biology, Forest Sciences, Environmental Sciences, or equivalent.
  2. A completed PhD on a topic related to the current project description (water use and drought responses in plants).
  3. Demonstrable expertise in building and managing large databases.
  4. Demonstrable expertise in programming and in using advanced statistical techniques in R.
  5. Research experience in plant hydraulic architecture and its responses to environmental stress factors (e.g., drought), as evidenced from prior scientific publications.
  6. Knowledge of English.

ASSESSABLE CONDITIONS

  1. Experience in working alongside and/or coordinating large research groups, preferably if in an international environment.
  2. Advanced knowledge of English.

SELECTION PROCESS AND CRITERIA
The selection process is led by the research project team, and will be overseen by the Management Office and the Human Resources Area of CREAF. This process consist of:

  1.
