TASKS
Design, implementation and coordination of field and greenhouse experiments to study effects of nutrient imbalance (mostly N and P) on plant soil interactions.
Soil microbial community analyses (including DNA extractions and PLFA analysis).
Rhizosphere analyses (including of root exudates).
Data processing and statistical analysis.
Reporting and communication the research outcomes in the form of scientific papers and through outreach activities.
REQUIREMENTS
Degree in Biology.
PhD in plant or soil ecology.
Demonstrable experience of more than 5 years of experimental design and implementation of plant ecology studies in a range of different systems, including field, greenhouse and controlled environments.
Demonstrable experience of measurement of root exudation and soil community parameters.
Capacity for teamwork.
Advanced knowledge of data processing and statistical analysis, using the R statistical package.
Spanish and English spoken and written correctly.
ASSESSABLE CONDITIONS
Post-doctoral experience in plant and soil ecology.
Demonstrable knowledge of plant-soil interactions, including latest methods and techniques.
Previous experience measuring rhizosphere processes (e.g., root exudation).
Experience with molecular methods for characterising soil biodiversity.
Involvement growing and carrying out experiments with Mediterranean tree species.
Capacity to publish in high impact journals.
Knowledge of Catalan language.
