PART-TIME (50%) SUPPORT TECHNICIAN FOR THE "REPLIM" PROJECT

CREAF needs to incorporate a technician to support the design, construction and testing of an autonomous robotic system for water sampling and "in situ" analysis of various physicochemical parameters in high mountain lakes, which is able to communicate with a remote base for data download and remote operation. This work is part of the REPLIM project (Network of observatories for sensitive ecosystems -lakes, peatlands- to climate change in the Pyrenees; official code EFA056/15), financed by the INTERREG POCTEFA (EU) program, in turn financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The labour contract is scheduled to commence at the beginning of April 2017, and will end when work on the project is completed (six months is expected).

TASKS

  1. Design of circuits for the control and reading of sensor networks.
  2. Programming the management of data generated by sensor networks.
  3. Programming of microcontrollers for the execution of robotic tasks.

REQUIREMENTS

  1. Minimum qualification: Baccalaureate or equivalent.
  2. High knowledge in the programming languages Python and C.
  3. Familiarity with the Linux environment.
  4. Experience in development board programming (Arduino, Rapsberry Pi, MinnowBoard, etc.).
  5. Notions of electronics.
  6. High level of English.

ASSESSABLE CONDITIONS

  1. Good foundation in math, physics and chemistry.
  2. Knowledge and experience in IoT.

SELECTION PROCESS AND CRITERIA

The selection process is led by the Main Researchers of the project, and will be overseen by the Management Office and the Human Resources Area of CREAF. This process consists of:
1. Admission of candidates: applicants must submit a résumé and a letter of motivation (maximum 500 words) to the e-mail laboral@creaf.uab.cat, until March 27, 2017 at 2:00 p.m., indicating the reference code of the offer.
2. Preselection: determination of compliance with the minimum requirements of the offer.
3. Selection: evaluation of pre-selected candidates, using a score based on objective criteria.
4. Final decision: if the appropriate person is found, the candidate will be formally informed of his/her choice, and the identification of the person chosen will be published on CREAF's job board.
