PhD in Biology, Universitat de Barcelona (1998). I have been involved for the last 35 years in mosquito study and control within the public administration. Since 1983 my workplace is in the management of the Mosquito Control Service in the Baix Llobregat Regional Council, providing integrated, innovative source reduction of urban mosquito species populations to 23 municipalities encompassing nearly 1 million people.

Additionally, I serve since 2015 as Entomology manager for the citizen science project Mosquito Alert created and participated by CEAB/CSIC, CREAF and Obra Social “la Caixa”. I have conjointly tutored two PhD works and published more than 45 scientific papers.

I have participated in projects such as the mosquito management for the Barcelona’92 Olympic Games (COOB92). I was also a member of the EVITAR multidisciplinary network (RETICS, 2003-2006) in charge of the early surveillance of Ae.albopictus; coordinator of the GRIGA/PSICOSAO social psychology study (2008-2010), and I also participated at the TIGER project at the Plan Estatal de Investigación Científica, Técnica y de Innovación (2013-2016) under leadership of CEAB/CSIC.

I am a member of the American Mosquito Control Association (AMCA), a founding member of the European Mosquito Control Association (EMCA), and Entomological Society of America (ESA). I have been elected as President of the European branch of the Society for Vector Ecology (E-SOVE) from 2000 to 2002, and organizer and President of the Third International Congress of Vector Ecology (Barcelona, 2001). I have served as advisor for the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), World Health Organization (WHO-Europe) and am a registered DAISIE expert.
