Management and conservation of forests

The use of wood, firewood, and biomass produced by the forestry sector has been seen as an impediment to the objectives of conservation, a viewpoint shared by many other social collectives. Today, the conservation of our forests cannot be contemplated without planning for some necessary uses, and neither is it possible to carry out management without taking conservation into consideration.

Global change has altered the structure, composition, and functioning of our forest ecosystems. These alterations can only be redirected towards more favorable conditions for the forest by means of forest management. For this reason, it is necessary that uses are oriented not only to productivity, but also to reducing forest vulnerability to these changes.
