d.tarrason@creaf.uab.catresearchergate profile linkedin profile PhD in Biology, specializing in soil science by the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB, 2004). I am currently Territorial Development consultant at FAO and researcher collaboration at CREAF.I have conducted my research in several areas of terrestrial ecology: land degradation and and soil ecology, organic matter content and CO2 fluxes in soils and its modeling. I have participated in several projects in Latin America (Peru, and Nicaragua in 2005, 2006-2010, Guatemala, 2009) where we have developed integrated approaches for evaluating dry tropical ecosystems. Currently I am particularly interested in studying the dynamics of socio-ecological systems and their relation to global change.I was associate professor at the UAB and coordinated several undergraduate theses at UAB and FAREM/UNAN (Nicaragua). Currently I lead a thesis focused on the study of ecosystem services of Ramsar systems in Nicaragua.Recent publications under CREAF affiliation Land degradation assessment through an ecosystem services lens: Integrating knowledge and methods in pastoral semi-arid systemsTarrasón D., Ravera F., Reed M.S., Dougill A.J., Gonzalez L.2016Journal of Arid Environments124: 205-213Doi: 10.1016/j.jaridenv.2015.08.002 Land use change trajectories, conservation status and social importance of dry forests in NicaraguaRavera F., Tarrason D., Espelta J.M.2014Environmental Conservation00Doi: 10.1017/S0376892914000186 Can organic amendments be useful in transforming a mediterranean shrubland into a dehesa?Tarrason D., Ojeda G., Ortiz O., Alcaniz J.M.2014Restoration Ecology22: 486-494Doi: 10.1111/rec.12092 View more publications
