CREAF

CREAF is seeking for a field technician, to work full-time for 2 months on the LIFE project THE GREEN LINK ("Restore desertified areas with an innovative tree growing method across the Mediterranean border to increase resilience", ref. LIFE15 CCA/ES/000125, funded by the European Commission). This contract is likely to start in May 2019.

TASKS

1. Collection of vegetation and soil samples in the field (municipality of Bruc, Les Masies del Bruc).
2. Carry out interviews.
3. Preservation of samples.
4. Preparation of samples in the laboratory.
5. Laboratory measures.
6. Sample submission.
7. Data entry.

REQUIREMENTS

1. Degree or equivalent with training in Edaphology and/or Ecology (Geology, Biology or Environmental Sciences).
2. Proven experience in vegetation monitoring studies.
3. Good physical condition (excavation of profiles, sampling with probes, and transport on foot of samples and heavy material).
4. Driving licence type B.
5. Knowledge of Catalan.

ASSESSABLE CONDITIONS

1. Knowledge of the work area (Bruc).
2. Experience in research work.
3. Availability of own vehicle.

SELECTION PROCESS AND CRITERIA
The selection process is led by the Project Research Team, and will be overseen by the Management Office and the Human Resources Area of CREAF. This process consist of:

1. Admission of candidates: applicants must submit a résumé, a cover letter (maximum 500 words) and the questionnaire attached to the offer (filled), by e-mail to laboral@creaf.uab.cat, until 30 April, 2 PM, indicating the reference code of the offer. Applications referred to another portal, other than CREAF job openings section and the instructions included in this, will not be accepted.
2. Pre-selection: determination of compliance with the minimum requirements of the offer.
3. Selection: assessment of the preselected candidates by scoring based on objective criteria.
4. Final decision: in case of finding the suitable person, the election will be formally communicated to him/her, and the identification of the chosen person will be published on CREAF job openings section.
