CREAF

CREAF is seeking a technician, to work full-time on the LIFE20 PRE/IT/000007 LIFE NewLife4Drylands project (“Remote sensing oriented nature based solutions towards a NEW LIFE FOR DRYLANDS”), financed by the European Union and for the PEDRERES, with ref.90003, on abandoned extractive activities in Catalonia, financed by Departament de Territori i Sostenibilitat of Generalitat de Catalunya. This contract is envisaged to start in April 2021.

TASKS
- Soil and Biophysical and other data acquisition
- Data analysis support
- Database and map creation and maintenance for the project sites
- Characterization of sites using remote sensing techniques and determining their evolution.
- Protocol definition
- Support in the organization of project events
- Participation in project events
- Preparation of communication contents and activities
- Selection and location of quarries with GIS.
- Field work, application of extractive monitoring protocol (vegetation inventories, geotechnical risk assessment, fauna, soil, ...).
- UAS-based imagery treatment and analysis

REQUIREMENTS
- Degree in Geology, Environmental Biology, Environmental Sciences or equivalent.
- Advanced studies in cartography, GIS and remote sensing.
- Accredited experience in vegetation monitoring studies.
- Accredited experience in quarry restoration monitoring.
- Type B driving license and availability of own vehicle.
- Good physical condition to deal with the collection of samples in the field.
- Good level of Catalan and English.

ASSESSABLE CONDITIONS
- Previous experience in research work in ecological restoration and remote sensing.
- Accredited experience in UAS-data processing.
- Knowledge of Catalan geography.
- Knowledge of the natural environment.

SELECTION PROCES AND CRITERIA
1. Admission of candidates: applicants must submit a résumé, a cover letter (maximum 500 words) and the questionnaire attached to the offer (filled), by e-mail to laboral@creaf.uab.cat, until 20 march 2021, indicating the reference code of the offer. 2. Pre-selection: determination of compliance with the minimum requirements of the offer.
3. Selection: assessment of the preselected candidates by scoring based on objective criteria.
4. Final decision: in case of finding the suitable person, the election will be formally communicated to him/her, and the identification of the chosen person will be published on CREAF job openings section.
